The Sanctuary Sweater is a seamless top-down sweater with shoulder saddles and a large
feature collar with buttons. It has a relaxed fit and subtle waist shaping.

It is written in eight sizes, from 71 cm to 147 cm busts (28 to 58 inches).

The sweater is worked with 5.5 mm needles and a DK (8ply) yarn, held together with a ‘fluffy’
fingering yarn, to give a soft and cozy fabric.

The seamless construction relies on Japanese (marker) short rows, which is why we have assigned it an intermediate to advanced skill level. However, detailed instructions and video links are included for knitters who are new to the technique.

The shoulder saddles are worked first as two small pieces. Stitches for the back are picked up
across these saddles, then the back is worked to the underarms. Stitches are then picked up on
the shoulder saddles for the front, which is worked with increases at the ‘V’-neckline. The front and back are then joined and worked in the round, with waist shaping, to the bottom hem. Stitches are picked up around the armholes for the sleeves, which are shaped with Japanese short rows. The collar is then added, which is also shaped with Japanese short rows.

It is named for its relaxed, cozy fit
